We like strong, punchy colours at WooSheeps, and specialise in vibrant semi solids, to subtly toned yarns, we don’t do puce, or clown barf.

All dyeing is done by ourselves in a shed at the bottom of the garden. As the sun comes up over the Mull Of Galloway, we kettle dye, committing alchemy and art, whilst singing traditional Scottish folk songs in gaelic, and dining on thistles, porridge, and raw freshly caught haggis.
Taking our inspiration from the local selkies, and moon gazing hares, we have a personal relationship with each and every hank. (Not really, but I was told this sort of thing would sell yarn. The bit about the shed at the bottom of the garden is true though.)

Our yarn names… Well, when we first hatched the plan of being indie dyers, we decided we wanted to be different, to stand out from the crowd. So we looked around and saw that girl’s names, poetic allusions, flower fairies, and general tweeness abounded. So we went with Tom, Dick, and Harry. Of course, knitters are a no-nonsense practical lot, who wouldn’t snigger at a hank of pink yarn called Big Dick.

We have run with the idea, and now have Tom, Angus, Bertie, Bruce, Dennis, and the ever popular Dick.

Dick is 100% Superwashed Blue Faced Leicester. and as you may know comes in various sizes, from 20g Tiny Dick, 50g gradient sets, and the 150g Big Dick.

We source our yarns in the UK, choosing practical knitter’s yarns, like Dick (BFL), and Angus (Merino and Nylon), we also like a bit of luxury and can offer Bertie (Merino and Silk). Debuting this Autumn will be the sophisticated Dennis (Polwarth).

We may discover something new and exciting at anytime, so check out our
